The reception theme of “trees” may prompt some curiosity – and we hope it does! When brainstorming possible wedding themes, “trees” was the first on each of our minds before we even compared notes. We love the theme of trees for a number of reason. Trees work well as a symbol of love – something that, with good roots, will grow strong and tall. Trees can withstand repeated heavy storms along with the changing of the seasons. Trees do not grow nor remain strong on their own, though. They absorb & convert precious sunlight into the energy they need to grow & thrive. Just as the sun provides the day-to-day necessities for the trees of the forest to grow and thrive, so do we firmly believe in God as our ultimate & immediate provider who has grown our relationship from seed to a fruit-bearing tree. We are overjoyed to build our lives under the sunshine of God’s love, sprouting leaves and growing rings as we continue to grow not only deeper in our roots but also wider & taller in our relationship as a whole.
Matthew and Brittany first met on a dating app, each skeptical of just how likely it would be to actually find someone they could connect with. When Matthew came across Brittany on the platform, he noted her glowing smile and enthusiastic descriptions of her interests – particularly an emphasis on a life centered around Jesus. When she replied to his request to connect, he was delightful to find along with it a commentary about aglets (in reference to a challenge on his own profile asking how one would fix their broken aglet). The pursuing gigantor messages soon led to texting directly and eventually talking over the phone and then video. Eventually they both met at the Acacia Reservation park for an autumnal stroll through the wooded lands (with coffee & tea afterwards). With strong impressions made all around, many more delightful dates were had and a strong relationship grown. With many fond memories made, much conversation had, and much encouragement provided by their friends and family, Matthew and Brittany had each decided they wanted to keep and grow this relationship for the rest of their lives. After “pre-posing” twice – once at the Acacia Reservation with a Ring Pop, and again on our regular neighborhood walk route with a toy rattler – Matthew again got down on one knee at the Mentor Headlands Beach after a short walk across the sand and taking in a few moments together. Matthew and Brittany are looking forward to many burnt cooking attempts, lightsaber battles, autumnal walks, much much more in their lives together.
Unable to make it to the ceremony? No problem! We have arranged for a live stream. The live stream will commence at the start of the reception: 1:30pm on Saturday, May 20th.
